Bob Hope Patriotic Hall

Bob Hope Patriotic Hall rises 10 stories in Los Angeles, CA, about 2.4 miles off the old road. Los Angeles County dedicated it in 1925 to serve veterans, and it still houses the county department that serves military members and veterans. In 2004 it was renamed for entertainer Bob Hope. For travelers with a military connection, it is a meaningful stop near the end of the road.

What is Bob Hope Patriotic Hall?

The hall is a tall county-owned building that has served veterans for a century. Today the county's veterans affairs department works from here, so it is a working government building as well as a historic one.

History of Bob Hope Patriotic Hall

The county Board of Supervisors dedicated the building as Patriotic Hall in 1925. It was meant for veterans of the Indian Wars, the Spanish-American War and World War I, and it also supported the Union veterans' group Grand Army of the Republic. On November 12, 2004, it was rededicated in honor of Bob Hope, whose name it now carries.

Visiting Bob Hope Patriotic Hall: tips

Because this is an active county building, check with the department before planning a visit inside; otherwise, a look at the exterior takes only a few minutes. Parking is available, and the building is listed as wheelchair accessible.

The Grammy Museum is about 0.7 miles away. The USC Fisher Museum of Art and the California African American Museum are each about 1.5 miles off.
