White Place Historic District

The White Place Historic District, a residential neighborhood in Bloomington, IL, lies a short distance from the old Route 66 corridor. Most of its houses went up between 1895 and 1928, many soon after S. R. White laid out the street called White Place. The homes show off an unusually wide range of styles, from Prairie School to Spanish Colonial, which makes the area a pleasant walk for house lovers.

What is White Place Historic District?

The district takes in homes on White Place and North Clinton Boulevard, plus homes along Fell Avenue's east side. Empire Street, which carries U.S. Route 9, marks its southern edge, and Emerson Street its northern one.

Much of the building followed soon after S. R. White laid out the White Place plat. Construction continued until the late 1920s. The district was listed on the National Register on August 12, 1988.
