Goose Lake Prairie State Natural Area

Covering 2,537 acres of Grundy County near Morris, IL, this state natural area lies roughly 50 miles southwest of Chicago and about 8 miles off the old road. More than half of it is tallgrass prairie protected as an Illinois Nature Preserve. For Route 66 travelers, it offers a rare look at the open grassland that covered much of the state before farms and highways.
