Ragtown began as a mining camp and is now a ghost town near Ludlow, CA, about 3.3 miles off the old road. It grew after gold was found in the Bagdad-Chase area around 1898 and was home to the Old Pete Mine. The name came from the tents most residents slept in, and from the camp's reputation as a red-light district. It lies close to the Route 66 stop of Ludlow.

Ragtown was a desert mining camp on Bagdad Chase Road in San Bernardino County. It stood just north of Stedman, an older settlement, and the two towns grew up closely linked. Its climate is classed as cold desert.

There are no services or marked visitor sites. Ludlow is about 3.9 miles away for fuel and food. Mojave Trails National Monument is about 9.7 miles off and Siberia about 9.8 miles. Carry water and respect any private or mining property.
