What is Center of the Universe?

The circle is set into the Boston Avenue pedestrian bridge, which crosses the railroad tracks downtown. A voice or a clap made in its center comes back to the speaker with an odd echo. It has been free to visit.

History of Center of the Universe

The pedestrian bridge opened in the early 1980s, replacing an older road bridge over the railroad tracks. The bridge and plaza were later closed for a renovation led by the city and the Downtown Tulsa Partnership, covering structural repairs, paths and lighting, with reopening expected in fall 2026.
