Foss State Park, Oklahoma

Foss State Park covers 1,749 acres on the shores of Foss Lake near Foss, OK, about 4.4 miles off the old road. It is a place to trade the car seat for a swim, a boat ride or a trail. With paved RV sites, tent sites, showers and a seasonal marina, it also works well as an overnight base for travelers crossing western Oklahoma.

What is Foss State Park?

This is a large state park built around Foss Lake. The main draws are on and around the water: fishing, boating, swimming from a beach, and lighted boat ramps for launching. Boat rentals, boat storage and a seasonal marina serve people who come for the lake.

On land, visitors can hike, bike or ride horses. An equestrian camp connects to a trail shared by riders, hikers and mountain bikers. Picnic areas, group shelters, grills, fire rings and playgrounds round things out, and the park is listed as wheelchair accessible. The mix of beach, playgrounds and picnic grounds makes it easy to give everyone in the car a real break from driving.

Camping and facilities

The park has 110 RV sites. Ten offer full hookups and the other 100 are semi-modern; every one is paved and has water plus 30- or 50-amp power. There are sites sized for big rigs and shaded sites, and tent campers have 35 sites of their own. Comfort stations with showers are available. Riders should bring their own horses, since no rentals are offered.

Visiting Foss State Park: tips

The park is about 4.4 miles off the old road. A picnic and a walk can fit into an hour, while a swim or a boat outing takes an afternoon.
