Rio Grande Valley State Park is an open space in Albuquerque, NM, set aside in 1983 and named for the Rio Grande Valley. Despite the name, it is not run like a typical state park: several local, state and federal agencies, along with other organizations, share the job of managing it. It lies close to the old road and right by the ABQ BioPark Zoo, making it an easy nature break in the city.
What is Rio Grande Valley State Park?
A protected stretch of open land rather than a park with a single gate and visitor center. The shared management means rules and access can differ from one area to the next.
Visiting Rio Grande Valley State Park: tips
