Tucumcari station is a former railroad depot in Tucumcari, NM, housed in a building from 1926. For decades it was a division point where the Rock Island and Southern Pacific lines met and passengers changed trains on the joint cross-country service, until those trains ended in 1968. Today the building is home to the Tucumcari Railroad Museum, an easy add-on to a walk through town.
What is Tucumcari station?
The depot building went up in 1926, the same year Route 66 was created, and its passenger trains belonged to the Rock Island line and the Southern Pacific. Now the Tucumcari Railroad Museum fills the old station.
