Bel Air Motel

The Bel Air Motel, also called Bel Air West, stands in St. Louis, MO, in the city's Central West End. Designed by Wilburn C. McCormick in a modern style, it joined the National Register in 2009. After a remodel in 2014 it reopened as a Holiday Inn Express, so the building still takes overnight guests. It sits about 2.6 miles off the old road.

What is Bel Air Motel?

The building is a motel designed in a modern architectural style by Wilburn C. McCormick. Its listing on the National Register recognizes it as a historic building worth keeping.

It did not end up as a ruin or a museum. The owners remodeled it and put it back to work as a Holiday Inn Express, so this is a historic motel where you can still spend the night.

History of Bel Air Motel

The motel has gone by both Bel Air Motel and Bel Air West. Its National Register listing came in 2009. Five years later, in 2014, a remodel turned it into its present chain hotel.
