Bill's Backyard Classics
Bill's Backyard Classics is a private classic-car museum on South Washington Street in Amarillo, TX, with more than ninety cars and trucks from the 1920s to 2012. It grew from the collection of Bill and Linda Pratt, who opened it to the public in 2015, and a repair shop on site keeps the vehicles running. The museum has no tie to Route 66 itself, but many road travelers stop in.
What is Bill's Backyard Classics?
Model As, street rods, military Jeeps, Power Wagons and Corvettes fill the buildings. Bill Pratt started with a 1934 Model A he restored as a teenager, and the collection grew after he sold his business. His son Glen now speaks for the museum.
History of Bill's Backyard Classics
According to a classic-car trade report, the collection held more than 170 cars by 2018 and had outgrown two buildings, so 52 of them were sold at an auction in Dallas.
Visiting Bill's Backyard Classics: tips
