Milburn-Price Culture Museum

The Milburn-Price Culture Museum is a nonprofit local history museum for Oldham County, in the former Western Lumber and Hardware building that has stood on Route 66 in Vega, TX, since the late 1920s. Dr. Wanda Price Milburn gave the building to the city in 2014 so the museum could open. Exhibits include Comanche artifacts, a Model T and a working 1896 printing press, and a 22-foot branding iron stands outside.

What is Milburn-Price Culture Museum?

A small-town museum of the Panhandle's story, from Comanche artifacts and a flagstone linked to Coronado to a Model T, a working 1896 printing press and display cases from the Alamo. Outside stands a 22-foot, 3,000-pound branding iron bearing the XIT Ranch brand, billed as the world's largest.

History of Milburn-Price Culture Museum

The building housed Western Lumber and Hardware before it became a museum. Its donor, Dr. Wanda Price Milburn, died in November 2024 at 97, and the museum is named for her and Dr. Braxton Milburn. A 2018 report says a steel donation helped expand the building.
