Cuba Lodge No. 312 A.F. and A.M., Missouri

Cuba's Masonic lodge, No. 312, is housed in a stone building in Cuba, MO, just off the old road. Built in 1940, it is a single-story hall made of native sandstone laid in random, squared blocks. For Route 66 travellers, it is a handsome example of building with native stone, and it sits among several other listed buildings in Cuba.

What is Cuba Lodge No. 312 A.F. and A.M.?

The lodge is a simple rectangle, one story tall, but the stonework lifts it above the ordinary. The sandstone is dressed, meaning the blocks were trimmed and squared, and it is set in an irregular pattern rather than even rows. The roof combines a gable and a hip at the front, and a small gabled porch projects over the entrance.

The building joined the National Register in 2014.

Visiting Cuba Lodge No. 312 A.F. and A.M.: tips

This is a working lodge building, so enjoy it from the street and do not expect to go in. A few minutes is enough to admire the stone and take a photo. The Cuba High School Annex, the John Manson Munro House and the Uptown Cuba Historic District are each about 0.1 miles away, making this an easy part of a walk around the center of Cuba. Fuel and food are close by, and the Wagon Wheel motel is about 0.6 miles off.
