Maj. Gen. William S. Harney Summer Home

Also called the Harney Mansion, this stone house stands in Sullivan, MO, less than a mile off the old road. Built in 1856 of native brown sandstone, it later became the warm-weather retreat of Major General William S. Harney. Today it is a historic house museum, giving Route 66 travellers a look inside a 19th-century stone home in the Missouri hills.
