Elden Pueblo, the site of a prehistoric Native American village, lies below Mount Elden near Flagstaff, AZ, less than a mile off the old road. It belonged to a wide trading network: macaw skeletons from Mexico and jewelry made of shell from the California coast have turned up here. The Hopi call it Pasiwvi. Today it is protected and used for research and education.
What is Elden Pueblo?
The pueblo was a village whose people traded over long distances. Finds of tropical birds and seashells far from their sources show how connected this community was. The site is now protected for research and learning.
