Fish Canyon Falls is a waterfall on Fish Canyon Creek, inside the city limits of Duarte, CA, and about 3 miles off the old road. The falls lie within San Gabriel Mountains National Monument, on Angeles National Forest land. Water drops roughly 80 feet over four tiers, and springs upstream keep it running in most seasons, which is unusual for Southern California.
What is Fish Canyon Falls?
The falls step down the canyon in four stages rather than one long plunge. Many local waterfalls dry up for months, but this one usually holds a steady flow thanks to spring water from higher up. Late summer is the exception, when the flow can shrink a lot.
Visiting Fish Canyon Falls: tips
Reaching the falls means a hike of about 4.8 miles round trip. The trail has been closed at times, so check with the Angeles National Forest before you set out. Monrovia Peak, about 3.3 miles away, is another mountain spot, and Rubel Castle in Glendora is about 4.6 miles off.
