George R. Kayser House

Built in 1911, the George R. Kayser House stands as a Colonial Revival home in Kingman, AZ, about a tenth of a mile off the old road. It stands on a prominent corner of the neighborhood that grew up during Kingman's housing boom of the 1910s. Listed on the National Register after a 1985 survey of the town's historic places, it is an easy stop on a Route 66 walk through Kingman's older streets.

What is George R. Kayser House?

Colonial Revival homes borrow the balanced fronts and classical trim of early American houses, and the style was a popular choice for new homes in the early twentieth century. This one went up in 1911, early in the decade when Kingman was adding houses quickly.

Its corner site mattered: it sits at a key spot in the residential area laid out between 1910 and 1920 as the neighborhood filled in.

Visiting George R. Kayser House: tips

This is a private home. Enjoy it from the street or public sidewalk and do not step onto the property. A few minutes is plenty.

The Duff T. Brown House stands right next to it, and the Raymond Carr House and the Lefever House are each about a tenth of a mile away. Walking these few blocks is the easiest way to see how Kingman looked in the early twentieth century, with Craftsman bungalows and revival-style homes side by side.
