Jones-Confluence Point State Park

Jones-Confluence Point State Park sits near St. Louis, MO, about 4 miles off the old road, at the spot where the Missouri River meets the Mississippi. Its 1,121 acres of riverbank and bottomland are being returned to natural floodplain. For a Route 66 traveller passing through St. Louis, it is a rare chance to stand at the meeting of two of the country's great rivers.

What is Jones-Confluence Point State Park?

Its full title adds the names of Edward "Ted" and Pat Jones. It lies in St. Charles County on the north bank of the Missouri River, right where it joins the Mississippi. The land is shoreline and low bottomland, and the state's Department of Natural Resources manages it with a long-term goal: letting the floodplain look more like it did when Lewis and Clark travelled the lower Missouri.

The park belongs to the Mississippi Greenway, once called the Confluence Greenway. Across the Missouri, on the south bank, lies the Columbia Bottom Conservation Area. The park was established in 2001.
