Lincoln Park Historic District

The Lincoln Park Historic District is a large residential neighborhood in Pomona, CA, about 2.5 miles off the old road. Its 45 blocks and 230 acres hold 821 structures, mostly single-family houses built from the 1890s through the 1940s. The mix of Victorian, Craftsman and Revival styles earned it a place on the National Register in 2004. It makes a pleasant slow drive for anyone who enjoys old houses.

What is Lincoln Park Historic District?

This is a lived-in neighborhood, not a museum. The houses cover half a century of American home building, and the variety is the point. Late Victorian houses and plain National Folk homes stand near Craftsman bungalows and houses influenced by them.

Revival styles from the late 1800s and 1900s add even more range: Colonial, Mission and Spanish, Tudor and Classical Revival. A drive down a few streets is a quick lesson in how American tastes changed from the horse-and-buggy era to the years when Route 66 was in its prime.

History of Lincoln Park Historic District

The district received its designation on May 4, 1998, and its National Register of Historic Places listing followed on April 9, 2004. The federal listing counted 745 contributing buildings, plus a contributing site, Lincoln Park itself, and four contributing objects. Those objects are historic hitching posts, small reminders of the days before cars. Pomona has four historic districts, and Lincoln Park is one of them. Look for the hitching posts as you walk.
