The Rains Brothers Building is gone: fire destroyed it on March 1, 2012. Built in 1900 and 1901, the three-story commercial building in Joplin, MO, also went by Miner's Hardware Company and the Roosevelt Hotel over the years. Its site is part of the Main and Eighth Streets district, so travelers can still walk the surrounding block of early-1900s buildings near the Route 66 corridor.
What is Rains Brothers Building?
Its three-bay front showed Renaissance Revival details, with a shop level at the street and upper floors above. It had been added to the National Register in 1990.
