The Ridgway Apartments are a matched pair of three-story brick apartment buildings in Joplin, MO, both built in 1918. They are also listed as the North Ridgeway and South Ridgeway Apartments. Each has a centered front door framed by a bold pediment and a stepped parapet along the top of the facade. They stand inside the Murphysburg Historic District, a few blocks from the Route 66 corridor.
What is Ridgway Apartments?
The two rectangular buildings are nearly identical, each about 42 feet wide and 125 feet deep. The design puts its effort into the front: a central entrance framed by a strong pediment, and a parapet that steps up and down across the roofline. Seen side by side, the pair makes a tidy photo.
History of Ridgway Apartments
Both buildings went up in 1918. They were added to the National Register in 2006 and are also counted within the Murphysburg Historic District, a large residential district of homes and churches.
