Two Guns, Arizona

Two Guns was a roadside tourist stop at the edge of Canyon Diablo, west of Winslow, AZ, and it has long since closed. The site is a reminder of how Route 66 attractions rose and fell with the traffic. It began as Canyon Lodge, took the name Fort Two Guns in the 1920s after Harry E. Miller arrived, and had its busiest years in the 1940s.

What is Two Guns?

Books often call Two Guns a ghost town, but it was really a tourist trap built to catch passing motorists. After the interstate came through in the 1950s, travelers sped past and the business faded, as many old roadside stops did.

Visiting Two Guns: tips

The site lies less than a mile off the old road, close to Interstate 40. No services are on record, so look from a safe distance and respect any closed or private areas. The Canyon Diablo Bridge is about 0.2 mile away and Meteor Crater about 7.4 miles.
