Set aside in 2005, it is a quiet nature stop about 4 miles off the old road for travelers who want trees instead of traffic.

What is LaBarque Creek Conservation Area?

The creek itself is the reason the area exists. A neighboring conservation area was bought partly to keep its water clean, and it counts among the healthiest streams around St. Louis, with at least 42 kinds of fish.
