Miami's Marathon Oil Company service station is a one-story filling station built in 1929 along Route 66 in Miami, OK, on the road's south side. Its Classical Revival styling gives a humble gas stop a touch of formal dignity. What it is

The station is a single-story building dressed in the Classical Revival style, a formal look for something as everyday as a gas station. A bit of history

It was built in 1929 to serve drivers as a Marathon Oil Company station on Route 66, only three years after the highway was created. The National Register added it in 1995, recognizing it as one of the historic roadside buildings along the Oklahoma stretch of the road.

Pull over for five or ten minutes of photos from the street, and respect the property. The Coleman Theatre is about 0.5 mile away and makes a natural pairing, and the George L.
