The Spraker Service Station is gone. This one-story brick Conoco station was built in 1927 on Route 66 in Vinita, OK, in the Tudor Revival style, and it earned a National Register listing in 1995 before it was demolished. Today there is nothing left to see at the site, but other historic roadside buildings, including Randall Tire Company, stand within about half a mile.
What is Spraker Service Station?
It was a small brick filling station dressed in the Tudor Revival style, selling Conoco fuel. It stood right on Route 66 in town, where drivers could pull straight in off the highway.
History of Spraker Service Station
Built in 1927, only a year after Route 66 was created, it was one of the early stations on the new highway through Vinita. It was added to the National Register in 1995, but the listing did not save it; the building has since been torn down.
