Road Tunes Musical Road

Road Tunes is a stretch of rumble strips on the east end of Winslow's Route 66, near the 9-11 Memorial. Driven at about 35 miles an hour, it makes the tires play the melody of the Eagles' Take It Easy, the song that put the town's street corner on the map. It was built in September 2025 for the Route 66 centennial by an Alabama company of the same name.

What is Road Tunes Musical Road?

About 40 feet of rumble strip, roughly 2 feet wide, on the east end of the road through Winslow. The Winslow Chamber of Commerce lists it among the projects meant to welcome road trippers and music fans.

History of Road Tunes Musical Road

It went in during the weeks before the Standin' on the Corner festival of September 2025, and press reports from early October 2025 show it already in use. Sources differ on whether the city or the Chamber hired the company. A painted wall of lyrics was planned to make the sound louder.
