Old Trails Museum
The Old Trails Museum is a local history museum in downtown Winslow, AZ, run by the nonprofit Winslow Historical Society. It fills a 1921 bank building on Kinsley Avenue, across from Standin' on the Corner Park, and admission is free. Exhibits cover Hopi and Navajo artifacts, the Santa Fe Railway, Fred Harvey and La Posada, and Route 66, which the museum marked with a 100-year exhibit.
What is Old Trails Museum?
A volunteer-run museum funded mainly by the city, memberships and donations. Its rooms cover the Mormon settlement of Brigham City, ranches and trading posts, the Winslow airport, and the railroad and Route 66 that shaped the town. Original details of the bank, such as its vault, are reported to survive inside.
History of Old Trails Museum
A savings and loan gave the building to the county historical society in 1985, and the museum opened in 1989. The Winslow branch became its own society in 1997. Sources give the building's date as 1920 or 1921.
