La Posada Historic District

La Posada Historic District sits on the eastern side of Winslow, AZ, on Second Street, which carries Route 66 through town. The district appears on the National Register, and its buildings follow the Spanish Colonial Revival style. With the La Posada Hotel and The Turquoise Room restaurant close at hand, it is an easy place on this part of the road to stop, eat or stay.

What is La Posada Historic District?

The district is a protected group of historic buildings in eastern Winslow. Its look is Spanish Colonial Revival, a style that borrows from the Spanish colonial buildings of the Southwest. The National Register listing covers the district as a whole rather than one building.

Because the address is on Route 66 itself, the district is part of the old highway's streetscape, not something tucked away from it. Travellers driving through Winslow pass right by.

Visiting La Posada Historic District: tips

There is parking on site, and the La Posada Hotel and The Turquoise Room restaurant are both about a tenth of a mile away, so this is an easy place to break the drive for a meal or a night. Fuel and an EV charger are close by too.

The Hubbell Trading Post, which has served as Winslow's visitor center, is about half a mile off. For a short side trip into early settlement history, the ghost town sites of Brigham City and Sunset are about 1.5 and 2.8 miles away.
