9-11 Memorial Garden

The 9-11 Memorial Garden stands at the east end of Winslow, AZ, beside old Route 66. Its centerpiece is two steel beams from the World Trade Center, about 14 and 15 feet tall, which New York City entrusted to the town. It was dedicated on September 11, 2002, the first anniversary of the attacks, and a flag that flew at the Pentagon is also displayed. It is an outdoor site.

What is 9-11 Memorial Garden?

A small memorial garden with the two beams and a plaque. Winslow's Chamber of Commerce calls them the largest pieces of the towers given to any community, which is the Chamber's own claim.

History of 9-11 Memorial Garden

Councilwoman Dee Rodriguez led the project on a budget of about $300, with a trucking company hauling the beams and local volunteers, students and a contractor building the site. Visitors report the beams were moved about a quarter mile along the road around 2012 or 2013, so older directions may be off.
