Sinclair Service Station

This Sinclair Service Station in Tulsa, OK, is a filling station built in 1929 on 11th Street, the original route of US 66 through the city. Its stucco walls, pointed parapet and clay-tile roof give it a Spanish-flavored look that stands out among plain modern buildings. Added to the National Register in 1996, it is a quick and rewarding photo stop for anyone following the early alignment.

What is Sinclair Service Station?

The station has three connected parts: a small office, a covered area where the gas pumps stood, and a two-bay repair garage attached to the side. Its style blends Mission Revival and Spanish Colonial Revival ideas, which the National Register paperwork sums up as Spanish Eclectic.

The details carry the look. Stucco covers the walls, a triangular parapet rises above the front, and a short visor roof is finished in Ludowici clay tile.

History of Sinclair Service Station

Built in 1929, the station joined the National Register in 1996. Its listing grew out of a survey of historic buildings along Route 66 in Oklahoma, which recorded the historic resources that still survive along the old highway.
