- 0.3 mi from Route 66
Hext is a small unincorporated farm community near Elk City, OK, in Beckham County, less than a mile off the main route line. It lies between Interstate 40 and I-40 Business, the road that was once U.S. Route 66. The name comes from a local man, William Hext. Little else is on record, so it is best treated as a quick pass-through on a back-roads drive.
What is Hext?
This is a rural community rather than a town with sights. Its setting between the interstate and the old highway shows how the two roads run side by side across this part of western Oklahoma.
