Randall Tire Company

Randall Tire Company is a small 1931 commercial building on the west side of Route 66 in Vinita, OK. Built of native sandstone, it carries a playful touch along its roofline: rough stones set along a curving parapet like a crown. It stands on a commercial strip at the south edge of town, an easy photo stop as you roll into or out of Vinita.

What is Randall Tire Company?

The one-story building has a flat roof and walls of irregularly shaped native sandstone, held together with beaded mortar joints that stand out against the stone. Its most distinctive feature is along the top: a curving parapet crested with sandstone rocks. The National Register nomination singled it out as a fine early example of plain, vernacular commercial design.

History of Randall Tire Company

The building went up in 1931, five years after Route 66 was designated, and as its name suggests it served the tire trade along the highway. It joined the National Register in 1995, recognized for its unusual stonework.
