Stroud's own landmark is the Rock Café, a 1930s sandstone cafe on the town's stretch of Route 66, rebuilt after a fire and tied to Pixar's Cars. West of Chandler, Seaba's Filling Station is a 1920s brick DX station listed on the National Register. In Bristow, the old road's Main Street and Fourth Street hold two early stations: the 1929 Art Deco Bristow Firestone Service Station and a 1923 stucco Texaco.

Chandler rewards a walk. The Chandler Armory, a 1930s WPA sandstone building, became a Route 66 interpretive center in 2007, and the two-story 1904 St. Cloud Hotel boasted the town's first elevator. Around them stand sandstone and brick storefronts built between 1897 and 1903, among them an old grocery that still has its public privy and a dry goods store that became a family-run bookstore. Back in Stroud, the 1913 Joseph Carpenter House is the town's oldest and best preserved Prairie Style house.

Practical note: these towns are small, with food and fuel in each, and the stops are quick to see. Stroud works as a small-town night between Tulsa and Oklahoma City, which is about 47 miles further west.
