The Bonelli House is a historic home in Kingman, AZ, that now works as a museum, about a tenth of a mile off the old road. Finished in October 1915, it sits on a corner in the middle of Kingman's cluster of listed historic houses. For Route 66 travelers it is the one place in that neighborhood where you can step inside a period home rather than admire it from the sidewalk.

What is Bonelli House?

The Bonelli House is both a historic house and a museum. It stands at a street corner in the older residential part of downtown, surrounded by other homes from the same era. Its visitor information is handled through the Mohave Museum's website.

Unlike most of its neighbors, which are private homes, this one is meant to be visited, and restrooms are on site. It is also reported to be wheelchair accessible and suitable for kids.

History of Bonelli House

Builders completed the house in October 1915. Seventy years later, a 1985 citywide survey looked at 63 historic places in Kingman, and the Bonelli House was one of the buildings that the study helped bring onto the National Register. That survey is the reason so many homes on these blocks carry the same listing.

Visiting Bonelli House: tips

Admission is not free, and it is worth checking the visiting details shown on this page before you go. Allow about 45 minutes to an hour for the house, and more if you like to linger over period rooms. Street parking in an older neighborhood like this is usually easy to find, but keep driveways clear for the residents next door.

Afterward, walk the neighborhood. The Ross E. Householder House is right beside it, and the William G. Blakeley House and Dr. Toler R. White's house are about a tenth of a mile away. Those are private homes, so view them from the street.
