Sawpit Canyon

Sawpit Canyon is a steep mountain canyon near San Bernardino, CA, in the San Bernardino range, about 6 miles off the old road. It climbs from about 3,386 feet at its mouth to roughly 5,100 feet at its head, which lies a short way east of Monument Peak. The creek once fed the West Fork of the Mojave River, and the canyon's original mouth now sits under Silverwood Lake.

This is a narrow mountain valley in San Bernardino County, cut by a small creek. The reservoir at Silverwood Lake covered the lower end, changing where the canyon now meets the water.
